Report detailing audit, governance review of Canada Soccer expected in May
An audit and governance review of Canada Soccer are scheduled to be completed with a final report in May, a spokesman for sport minister Carla Qualtrough tells me.
Qualtrough’s predecessor Pascale St-Onge ordered the audit and review on May 30, 2023, citing a “lack of financial transparency” within Canada Soccer.
The audit of the federation, which received $5M in govt funding in 2022, is to cover Mar. 1, 2017, to Mar. 31, 2023.
Qualtrough’s spokesman said Sport Canada, the Canadian Olympic Committee and Own the Podium are also creating an advisory group to “offer support” to Canada Soccer to address the findings of the review and audit.
